Pillars beneath the mountain

Time: early morning, probably 30 minutes past sunrise.

Object: Matunga hillock, Hampi

Exposure: F22, AP

Comment: In general, I believe that black & white pictures accentuate form & contrast because of the missing element of colour. The pillars & the hillock, in reality, are not juxtaposed the way it is seen in the photograph. I wanted to create a feeling of virtual depth by placing the pillars in that way so that it appears that the cave leads all the way into the hillock & is in fact shouldering the hillock. The sky is evenly grey with a slightly brighter area in the corner because of the rising sun.

This picture has been corrected to remove blemishes. I'm not sure if it is a good picture, but I seem to like it.
